舞团介绍
美国纽约克利现代芭蕾舞团于2006年成立于纽约,因在密苏里州堪萨斯市瑞克歌剧院的处女秀大获好评而于2007年承担起孟菲斯市的文艺复兴艺术的传播以及古典芭蕾教育工作。纽约克利现代芭蕾舞团现已在美国佛蒙特州、密歇根州、纽约、华盛顿、密西西比州、马萨诸塞州、奥尔巴尼、盐湖城等地完成了七季巡演。

在十年的时间里,克利现代芭蕾舞团始终在与世界一流的舞者共同携手,通过多变的编舞形式来推动芭蕾舞艺术的发展。在这里你将会看到受过古典芭蕾训练的专业舞者用其丰富的情感,有力的肢体语言,老练的叙事手法向观众娓娓道来,他们的舞蹈动感、多变、发人深思。

ABOUT COLLAGE DANCE
Collage Dance is a professional contemporary ballet group. Founded in New York City in 2006, Collage Dance received rave reviews for its 2007 national debut at the Lyric Opera House in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2007 the group took part in the exciting artistic renaissance of Memphis and to fulfill its mission of extending the reach of outstanding classical ballet training. Since then the professional group has presented seven-full length seasons toured to Vermont, Michigan, New York City, Washington, D.C., Mississippi, Massachusetts, , Salt Lake City and Missouri.

For nearly 10 years, Collage Dance Collective has worked to inspire the growth of ballet by showcasing a repertoire of relevant choreography and world-class dancers. Performance attendees will see classically-trained dancers who are lyrical, powerful movers and seasoned storytellers.  The choreography is dynamic, diverse and thought-provoking.

我七岁开始跳舞,在八、九岁的时候我发现我的颜色不对,我觉得我的一部分文化被擦掉了,在舞蹈中我必须做另外一个人。直到我开始在哈莱姆舞剧院跳舞,当我看到像我一样的舞者时,我看到了受过古典舞蹈训练的黑人民族在舞台上的一种美,我意识到我们需要更多这样的美,这是为什么克利舞团对我如此重要,也是为什么它对于帮助有色舞者前行如此重要。
I started dancing very young at the age of seven. By the time of eight or nine I realized that I was not the right color. I kind felt that part of my culture was being erased. I have to be somebody else to be this dancer. It is only when I started dancing with the Dance Theater of Harlem, when I saw the dancers who look like me, I saw the beauty of blackness of dancers that was classically trained on stage, so I realized that we need more. That’s why Collage became very important to me, why it is important to create a vehicle for dancers of color.

We want to bring [the black community] into it, and let them know that it’s for them and we can create a whole new world out of this, and make sure that Ballet will survive as it is passed on. We make ballet accessible. We make you feel something and you go home feeling differently about this art form.

How would I describe Collage? The Name says it all. You have Collage of dancers, Collage of repertoire. While you are learning everything you have to be able to do everything. It is not an easy group. You really have to do it all. That’s why I think Collage is such a great thing, especially with our diversity.

谈到代表孟菲斯市,其实是代表这里的人民,他们的故事和背景,通过古典芭蕾的技巧展示出我们可以战胜一切困难,传达出美,并仍然保持欧洲的艺术形式。但这并不代表我们在遮盖什么,或我们在试图擦除我们的部分身份认同。恰恰相反,我们将它与世界舞蹈、当代舞、现代舞,黑人舞蹈舞融合在一起,最终呈现出更多。
About representing Memphis, it is representing the people, their stories and their background, and using the classical ballet technic to show that we can rise above any obstacles, we can be beautiful doing it and we can still have that European art from. But it is not something to mask over, not that we are trying to erase part of our identity. We are incorporating that, and using both world dance, contemporary dance, modern dance, black dance and ballet to come together and cultivate something much more.

The audiences will see Collage reflect their culture through their movements while sharing the love of ballet. You will not fall asleep in our performances. If it is cold outside, you will come to a Collage show and feel the heat.

Lineage is a pure dance work honoring those who have come before us. Moultrie has created a space for the dancers to present themselves and move from a genuine place of gratitude – always remembering that we are standing on the shoulders of many.

Left Unsaid features three couples and three chairs interacting in shifting moods and dynamics. The choreography is inventive, creating expressive original shapes built on an undercurrent of implicit human relationships. The astute placing of dancers to background the main action, and entering or leaving the space, holds the tension.

The work was originally inspired by three voice overs which Mr. Hounsell recorded talking about the cerebral activity involved in any decision making process. This functioned for Mr. Hounsell as a metaphor for the cause and effect involved in kinesthetic activity. He saw the piece as a study in the relationship between impulse, movement and the exchange of information. The ballet dancers illustrate and beautifully create a system of communication which measures the value of space around physical actions and the sharing of energetic initiations.

Beyond The Veil was inspired by the countless young men and women who feel stifled and hopeless due to the challenges and obstacles they face growing up in urban environments. The work was created to inspire them to extend their vision beyond hardship and see the many doors of possibility for them. Moultrie wants them to always ask, “if happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow, why can’t I?
